The Universal Declaration of Human Rights
Today is the 60th Anniversary of the United Nation’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Just after WWII, on December 10, 1948 the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted and proclaimed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the full text of which appears here. Following this historic act the Assembly called upon all Member countries to publicize the text of the Declaration and “to cause it to be disseminated, displayed, read and expounded principally in schools and other educational institutions, without distinction based on the political status of countries or territories.”
I do not recall it ever publicized, disseminated, displayed, read and expounded up0n to me and was wondering if anyone else has had the experience of being introduced to it in a school or educational institution or by other means.
Video commemorating the day by BoingBoing tv and WITNESS.org
WITNESS.org was founded by musician and activist Peter Gabriel with other human rights groups in 1992, and uses video and online technologies to “open the eyes of the world to human rights violations”.

When I first saw the title of this post, I just thought it was a clever creation of yours–clearly indicating my answer to the question of whether or not I’ve been introduced to the document.

I certainly wish this had been expounded upon to me! Alas, no.
